rpd is going back to the books!

What’s the chances of Chile been like main land Spain? I’ve been to Benidorm and the Cost of de Crime and if can’t speak any Spanish just lean in a little closer, smile a bit more and raise your voice about 55db’s!

That thought went well out the window when I decided to head out of the hostel in search of something to eat and found myself wandering around the old town streets, its the kinda place where at night you have a very large chance of been mugged/beaten/raped (which I will now refer to as MBR for short as I think I’m going to be typing it a lot over the coming months!) I stumble upon an old building and in the arches there are hundreds of fast food stalls about the same size as a pikey caravan with a grill and a fridge for the cola’s and cervezas as for the other food god knows where they keep it or prepare it. However judging by the cue of people eating and waiting to eat the chance eating unknown meat content is high but the chance of belly ache is low!

A couple of days later the Dutchman comes up with the plan while we are sitting on top of the mountian looking over the smog; “so its easy we stay here and the manager from the hostel will teach us the basics in 6 days, also we can have a beer or two in the evenings – whatta ya say Ireland?” Sounds a lot better then the noexistant plan that I have, so rpd is going back to school!
The words of old teachers are ringing in my ears, “if he only applied himself”, “he has an answer for everything but not to the quetion I ask him”, “carring on with that attitude will get him nowhere” and my favourite “but insert my excuse/comment/thought rpd always has a ‘but’ for everything”. This is going to be nothing like school I say to myself so I sign myself up and book my bed for a week handover the reddies and ask the question ‘what time do we start at tomorrow?’

09:00 – oh cock!
The following days spent in Santiago I would like to say are action packed but 6-8hrs of school a day is about it, when we did venture out it was for the basics – food or beer!  I’m glad to say we graduated over here it works on a number system I score a 5, to everyone else thats a C – job well done, no need to do any more than required – and those words I have also heard a lot of times! But (!) its done me well so far in life so I’ll take my C and go on the beers!
