Picton – my goodbye to the South Island

A page for images for you to enjoy. You see I’m saying goodbye to the south island and with a very deep regret I’ve not given it enough time, but I’ve found a place which I will be coming back to!

MY IMAGES WILL APPEAR SOON – ITS ANOTHER STORY!

Picture it, I take a sedate mosey down to the port to catch my ferry after been very charming to the ‘fosh and chups’ ladies – always gets extra large portion for free and couple that with a bottle or two or three of Monteiths Summer Ale I’m feeling very fat and very slow, then what do I stumble upon a brace of cats which have been in the wild for a week – but what do I spy in the middle, an early original Series II and she’s been used properly – the five year old boy in me is now out, chaps you know what I mean, ladies think of the emotion you get when you see the dog you’ve always wanted but its a puppy!

Note to self; wear underwear more often!

It’s quite an epic boat journey out of Picton to Wellington a completely black sky with no light pollution so the stars and milky way almost appear fake as they are so clear, I make a mental note to myself to find out about the southern hemisphere sky as trying to find you direction with no north star is not the easiest!! I’ve got the instrumental tunes of a great album by Rob Dugan playing and I kick back and watch the south island turn into a faded dot…. and the bean hunter has ticked of another mode of transport!

The south island has left it’s mark on me, a very very beautiful place with more going on than you can actually imagine I can see why people want to stay for months or sometimes they loose themselves all together and end up living here.  Like so many people I will be back – I have more than one reason but the next time I’ll be on a faster bike with out any bags to drag around behing me and this time I hope to keep my images! I say that as it happens to all travelers at some point but I discovered that my SD card was taken from the library today the only images I have left are the few chosen ones on this blog, lucky I still have my memories…. and my tunes!
